About the Instructor: Professor Pete Constant, The Bourbon Scholar
Professor Pete Constant, known as The Bourbon Scholar, brings scholarship, leadership, and lived experience to Whiskey University’s mission of serious whiskey education. Since joining Whiskey University in 2025, he has been committed to advancing its standard of structured, academically grounded whiskey studies, helping students move beyond casual appreciation into disciplined understanding.
A retired San Jose police officer and former elected city councilman, Professor Constant has spent decades in public service, leading with integrity and accountability. He continues that commitment today as an elected school board member and as Professor and Chair of the Public Policy Department at Jessup University. His background in governance and higher education uniquely equips him to approach whiskey studies with intellectual rigor, historical precision, and a respect for institutional excellence, values that align seamlessly with Whiskey University’s academic model.
At Whiskey University, Professor Constant has completed the Bourbon Whiskey Certificate, Whiskey Diploma, Associate of Science Degree, Bachelor of Science with a major in the Bourbon Capital Region, a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Whiskey History, and a Master of Arts with a major in Tennessee Whiskey. His formal whiskey credentials include Certified Whiskey Taster, Chartered Master Bourbon Taster, Executive Bourbon Steward, and Certified Bourbon Steward through the Stave and Thief Society. His academic concentrations in Bourbon Capital studies and Whiskey History directly support Whiskey University’s commitment to structured majors and disciplined coursework.
Beyond the classroom, he is the founder and president of the Roseville Bourbon Society, an IRS-recognized nonprofit educational organization dedicated to advancing the public's education of bourbon and its role in shaping America's past, present, and future as the fastest growing American Spirit. He holds the distinctions of Tennessee Squire and Maker’s Mark Ambassador, and he is a member of The Macallan Society, First Responder Whiskey Society, and Mellow Moments Club, among others. These affiliations provide him with current industry insight while reinforcing his commitment to heritage preservation and responsible stewardship.
Professor Constant approaches whiskey education with a mindset consistent with Whiskey University’s philosophy: serious study, sensory discipline, historical grounding, and cultural respect. Rooted in a Christian worldview that emphasizes wisdom, moderation, and gratitude, he teaches that bourbon and whiskey are to be understood, appreciated, and stewarded thoughtfully.
At Whiskey University, Professor Pete Constant helps learners transform curiosity into knowledge, appreciation into expertise, and passion into disciplined mastery.
