Dustin’s almost 22-year career in law enforcement ended July 31, 2024 when he retired as chief of police. Dustin resides in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky with his wife Brook.  They have been married for 22 years and have three children. Dustin utilizes his grassroots in Lawrenceburg to promote Whiskey University’s Bluegrass Region and the distilleries in the area.

Dustin is a graduate of the Spring Class of 2021, graduating from Whiskey University on February 7th, 2022, where he has earned his Associate of Science degree with 20 classes, and the title of "Certified Bourbon Taster". Bowman completed his 30th course, earning his Bachelor’s of Science degree and the rank of First Lieutenant in the Bourbon Brigade on November 1st, 2023.

Both Dustin’s father and grandfather worked and retired from Wild Turkey Distillery, each serving for over 40 years, while his great grandfather worked for at the distillery as well.  His maternal grandfather was also a long-time worker in the bourbon industry, retiring from Four Roses after serving over 40 years.  To say the love for bourbon runs through his blood is an understatement.  He has a passion for educating and helping others’ experience on their bourbon journey.  When Dustin began thinking about plans after retirement he sought ideas on the internet and found Whiskey University.  After speaking to Colonel Craig Duncan he knew that this was how he wanted to continue his own journey in the bourbon experience.

Dustin has completed Majors in the “Bluegrass Region and Bourbon Capital Region” as he continues to expand his studies. Dustin became a “Master Whiskey Taster” with the rank of Captain in the Bourbon Brigade after taking his 40th class and earning his Master of Arts Degree in October of 2024.
