Lt. Col. Tracy McLemore

Tracy McLemore has been a member of Whiskey University since the summer of 2023. Lt. Col. McLemore earned both his Master of Science and Master of Arts degrees from WU in 2025.

Tracy is a board-certified Clinical Laboratory Scientist and molecular microbiologist by profession, with extensive experience in research involving antibiotic-resistant bacteria. He has worked with many state health agencies and with both the CDC and FDA on laboratory projects, which has allowed him to travel to 45 states in the U.S. Currently, a director with the Tennessee State Government, he leads the federal program that inspects and certifies medical laboratories within the State of Tennessee.

Born the day after Christmas in 1965, Captain McLemore was raised as a child in Central Florida, then returned to his ancestral home in Lincoln County, Tennessee, as a teenager. There, he developed a fondness for Tennessee whiskeys. His passion for whiskey had been honed and grown over the years, so that when he joined WU, it was a natural fit. Before even joining WU, he had toured most of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and much of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. He continues to enjoy collecting Tennessee whiskeys and bourbons in his home bar, where he currently has a collection of just over 240 bottles. He is especially fond of George Dickel, 17-year, and Eagle Rare, 10-year. He is steadily developing his taste for Scotch, particularly non-peated varieties like The Glenlivet. In addition to whiskeys, he also enjoys car shows and has an extraordinary passion for ’60s Mopar muscle cars,

Lt. Col. McLemore now lives with his wife, Kimberly, in Fairview, Tennessee, just west of Nashville. They share four grown children and eight grandchildren, all of whom are his pride and joy.
