Daniel Snyder has been a member of Whiskey University since late 2021. In 2016 Whiskey University began offering Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees. Daniel earned his Bourbon Diploma with Whiskey University on January 11th, 2022.

Captain Snyder is a Product Manager for a Radio Controlled Hobby company based in Champaign, Illinois.  Daniel was born in May 1977 in central Illinois.  He grew up in rural central Illinois near Kewanee, IL.  He now lives in Mahomet Illinois, with his wife Gillian and son Conor. Daniel earned his Associate Degree after passing 16 classes on March 29th, 2022.

Daniel’s passion for bourbon began in 2019 during a family trip to Louisville after a number of years enjoying Irish Whiskey.  During this trip, he tried samples at a few distilleries, but especially enjoyed those at Old Forester. After returning from the trip he began trying several brands searching for his personal favorite, eventually returning to find Old Forester Signature 100 and Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style to be his favorites. Since then he has been on a journey to find other brands that he likes as much as Old Forester, finding numerous other brands to be among his favorites, including Wild Turkey/Russell’s Reserve, New Riff, Wilderness Trail, and Jack Daniels amongst others.  He continues to collect and taste as many bourbons as he can. After finishing his basement in 2020 he began to build his own bar to showcase his passion for bourbon, and joins as many local events he can make. His Whiskey University education and classes has contributed to a significant increase in the bourbon collection, peaking around 75 bottles so far.

On June 15th, 2022 Daniel earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with 25 classes, at Whiskey University and the title of "Adjunct Master Bourbon Taster" and the rank of First Lieutenant in the Bourbon Brigade. On July 6th, 2022 Captain Snyder advanced to earn the Title of “Master Bourbon Taster” by earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree and the rank of Captain in the Bourbon Brigade.
