Lt. Col. George Deforest has been a member of Whiskey University since May 2025. George is rapidly working his way through the entire nine-degree program at warp speed. He is currently a “Chartered Master Whiskey Taster” and has earned his Master of Arts Degree from Whiskey University with a Double Major in World Whiskey and Craft Whiskey on April 12th, 2026. Currently on pace to complete his Commandership (9 majors completed) by the end of the Summer semester 2026.
George earned Bourbon Diploma on June 16th, 2025. He earned his Canadian Whiskey Diploma July 20, 2025. George graduated with his Associate Degree on September 30th, 2025, as Valedictorian. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree March 15th, 2026. George earned the title of the "Master Bourbon Taster," the rank of Major in the Bourbon Brigade with his Bachelor of Arts Degree on April 12th, 2026 with a total of 66 courses.
Looking through Eventbrite to see what Whiskey events were happening in his area, George stumbled upon Whiskey University. Not knowing what Whiskey University was, he went down the rabbit-hole and ended up signing up all the free courses he was able to find. After attending a few classes, George had a one-on-one Zoom meeting with Colonel Craig, and his journey took off.
As of now George has been appointed Ontario Regional Leader for Whiskey University. Allowing him to mentor fellow Canadians attending Whiskey University, and also help shape the Canadian content.
So if you see someone at your next Whiskey Show/Event in a stand out Whiskey vest. Walk up and ask them if they want to share a drink and talk whiskey. Who knows George may talk you into joining Whiskey University as well.
