Jeannie LaBella has been a member of Whiskey University since January 2021. In 2012 Whiskey University began offering Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees. They also began offering Certificates and Degrees in Rye Whiskey beginning in 2020. Jeannie earned her Bourbon Diploma on April 18, 2021.

Jeannie was born in Flint, Michigan in 1964 and graduated with her Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University in 1987. After graduating, Jeannie moved to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and worked for Oakridge Associated Labs as an analyst and continued her career with various government and private sector companies as a technical writer, trainer and analyst. Jeannie is currently living in Bristow, Virginia, just 30 miles south of Washington D.C. and works part time as a website and graphic designer. She has also created her own business, Whiskeys House (https://www.whiskeyshouse.com), which features clothing and household items for whiskey enthusiasts.

Jeannie’s love of whiskey must have started in the womb since her father, an immigrant from Russia, was a staunch fan of whiskey and not so much the clear liquid he should have favored (vodka!). Jeannie is a member of several bourbon groups in her local area as well as the National Bourbon Women’s Association where she has had the opportunity to meet with master distillers and expand her knowledge in all things related to whiskey.

Jeannie was part of the fourth semester of Instructors to graduate with her Associate Degree and the Title of “Certified Bourbon Taster” after passing 16 classes on June 28th, 2021. LaBella earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with 30 classes and the Title of “Master Bourbon Taster from Whiskey University on November 7, 2021. Jeannie is also an Executive Bourbon Steward with the Stave and Thief Society and a Certified Whisky Ambassador. Jeannie is continuing her Graduate studies at Whiskey University and hope to earn a Master’s Degree.

Douglas Fraser has been a member of Whiskey University since April of 2021. In 2012 Whiskey University began offering Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees. They also began offering Certificates and Degrees in Rye Whiskey beginning in 2020. Doug earned his Bourbon Diploma on September 7th, 2021.

Originally from Vermont, Douglas has served in the U.S. Air Force since 2010. After leaving active duty and joining the National Guard, Douglas moved to Northern Virginia where he worked as a Police Officer in Washington D.C. Douglas left Law Enforcement in 2021 and went into the banking industry in Northern VA. Douglas is currently living with his wife in Fairfax, Virginia and also works part time as a contributing writer for The Whiskey Reviewer, an online whiskey blog, where he is able to taste whiskies from all around the world. He is also heavily present on Instagram and Facebook.

Doug was part of the sixth semester of Instructors to graduate with her Associate Degree and the Title of “Certified Bourbon Taster” after passing 16 classes on December 1st, 2021. Fraser earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with 25 classes and the Title of “Adjunct Master Bourbon Taster” from Whiskey University on March 22nd, 2022.

Douglas holds an Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Intelligence Studies from the American Military University, and is currently attending classes for his Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources, at the same time, a certification in Distilled Spirits Business from the University of Louisville. Douglas also has Diplomas in Irish Whiskey and Scotch Whisky through Edinburgh Whisky Academy.

Douglas credits his love of all things whisky to his Scottish roots. It all started in a whiskey bar in Fort Collins, Colorado, when he was curiously trying different whiskies including Lagavulin 16 that he saw in the famous show Parks and Recreation. After tasting it, he fell in love with the bonfire smokiness that caressed his palate. Since then, his love of whiskey has grown to Bourbon and other American whiskies, Japanese Whisky, Irish Whiskey, and others from all over the world. Douglas regularly goes off on adventures with bottles of whiskey for his whiskey photography hobby and tastes as much as he can to expand his nose and palate.
